The Dispute Service have reported that over half a billion pounds of tenants deposit monies has been registered in accordance with the Tenancy Deposit Scheme launched on 7 th April 2007. In March 2008 it was reported that The Dispute Service are receiving an average of 127 disputes a month and this is set to rise. The industry tells us that the average length of a tenancy is 18 months so it is inevitable that as tenancies come to end the more disputes there are going to be.
Guidelines published by The Dispute Service have recommended thorough inventories and condition reports are the most effective way to ensure that any disputes are settled quickly and fairly.
